Roles

== Roles Scheme, Describing the role of a person in an Atom Entry ==

This Scheme is designed to provide for markup of Credits within the Transmission metadata systen.

We conform to the draft suggestions set out here:

from http://ietfreport.isoc.org/all-ids/draft-snell-atompub-author-extensions...

Thus we obtain markup that looks like this:

And, accordingly, we obtain possible Roles from the list held by the US Library of Congress, here:

http://www.loc.gov/marc/sourcecode/relator/relatorlist.html

We note that the list is, in terms of the roles required by Credits, incomplete. We note that the Library of Congress invites 'Requests for additions to the code or term lists'. Our suggestion is that this page is used as a place to update Roles in accordance with a./ the needs of Transmission and b./ the approach of the LoC. It is then suggested the LoC is contacted periodically as neccessary and asked to update the liast.
